Opening Day
Bayview ladies welcomed in the 2026 season with 84 playing an Irish Stableford game of golf, with more joining in for lunch. Everyone had great fun catching up and swapping stories of Christmas holiday happenings.
The rules talk on “Ball Stuck In A Tree”, presented by our Vice Captain Jane Reed, sparked great interest. Using a PowerPoint, Jane showed how the top players cope with just such a situation. Who knew how many different rules could be explored when your ball lands in the top of a palm tree!
We look forward to a fabulous year at Bayview – improving our golf, participating in a huge variety of events (both fun and serious), travelling away to represent our club, and joining a pennant competition.
The winning team – Trish Gillett, Sandra Calabretta, Lisa White & Sharon Angel scored 92.

Barrenjoey Classic
The 2026 Barrenjoey Classic once again showcased why it remains one of the premier women’s tournaments on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. With more than 570 entrants, this year’s event was among the largest in its history, creating an exciting and vibrant atmosphere across the region.
Competition was played across five outstanding venues: Bayview Golf Club, Cromer Golf Club, Mona Vale Golf Club, Monash Country Club, and Wakehurst Golf Club. The multi-club format allowed the tournament to welcome a record field while highlighting the quality and variety of courses across the Northern Beaches.
Each course offered its own unique challenges, testing players’ skill, strategy, and consistency throughout the week. Managing a field of over 570 competitors required significant coordination, and thanks to the amazing Barrenjoey Committee, the event ran smoothly from start to finish.
Bayview competitors rose to the occasion with impressive performances across all three competitions. The team event was a particular highlight, with Bayview securing prize winners at all three clubs — a fantastic achievement that reflected both the depth of talent within the club and the strength of its teamwork.
A special congratulations to Sue Lewis on her outstanding performance as Winner of Division Three Individual Competition, earning the Silver Tray – a perpetual trophy – with an exceptional 40 points. Her achievement was a standout moment of the week and a proud result for Bayview.
Well done also to Sharon Angel, Rain Tang, and Kathy Goldsmith on their success as prize winners. Their achievements added to what was an excellent overall campaign for Bayview competitors.
The week also delivered a wonderful outcome off the course, with the charity Women and Children receiving more than $16,000 from the tournament raffle. Congratulations to raffle winners Megan Kennedy and Leslie Knox, and sincere thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to this outstanding fundraising result.
With record participation, outstanding organisation, and high-quality golf on display throughout the week, the 2026 Barrenjoey Classic once again delivered a memorable and successful event for the Northern Beaches golfing community.
