Friday 27th February will see the introduction of an Eight and Dine event that will be open to all members plus visitors. It is planned to have a shotgun start at 3pm and play on a reduced course playing on the clubhouse side of the course (Holes 1,2,3,8,9,10,11,12). This will ensure the field will finish around 5pm in time for dinner in the club before market night commences at 6pm. It is envisaged that the entry fee for the event will be $35 which will include golf, dinner and prizes, It should be a lot of fun and if it proves to be popular, we plan to run it through daylight savings each year.

MAJOR PENNANTS – WEEK 3

BAYVIEW v CAMDEN

This week in Major Pennant, we hosted Camden Golf Club. After opening the season with a win and a loss, this home match was an important opportunity to capitalise on familiar conditions—and the team delivered with an outstanding 7–0 victory, a result I can’t recall seeing during my time at Bayview.

The course was presented in excellent condition, and we extend our thanks to the ground staff for their exceptional work.

We also welcomed 15‑year‑old Hugh Webster for his debut. Hugh has shown strong commitment and determination since joining the squad, and he rose to the occasion. Despite some understandable nerves early on, he took the lead and maintained control throughout, closing out his match on the 17th. If you see Hugh around the club, please congratulate him—his performance was genuinely impressive.

Anthony Carter returned from last week’s wrist scare and produced a composed, confident round to secure a comfortable win.
Brent Lawrence was consistent from start to finish, sealing his match on the 12th after maintaining pressure all day.
Adam Gaukrodger once again closed out his match on the 17th, staying in control despite a determined opponent.
Jacob Schouw faced an experienced competitor but never allowed him into the match, securing a decisive win on the 14th.
Ben Higgins acknowledged he wasn’t at his absolute best, but he delivered when it mattered, making key putts to secure his match.
RJ faced a high‑quality opponent, with both players producing excellent golf. Despite his competitor being three under through 14, RJ was five under at that point and closed out the match on the 16th.

Results:

  • RJ – won 3&2
  • Ben Higgins – won 2&1
  • Jacob Schouw – won 5&4
  • Adam Gaukrodger – won 2&1
  • Brent Lawrence – won 7&6
  • Anthony Carter – won 6&4
  • Hugh Webster – won 2&1

This week we travel to Camden Studley Park for the return match, followed by our final home game of the season. Support from members made a noticeable difference on Sunday, and we encourage as many supporters as possible to come out again.

A special thank you to Paul Clarke, James Clendinning, Jasper Melville, and Mark Edmonson for caddying—your support is greatly appreciated.

LATE CANCELLATION – NO SHOW POLICY

Due to an increase in the number of late booking cancellations and members not turning up to their tee times, on the day, a Late Cancellation & No-Show Policy at Bayview Golf Club will be introduced the week commencing Sunday 1st March. This policy addresses the issue of players failing to show up for their designated tee times or cancelling bookings on competition days. The intent is to promote respect, fairness and reliability amongst all members.  The responsibility to manage the members booking rests solely with the member not the person who makes the booking.

It is understood that situations such as illness or unforeseen personal or immediate family related circumstances occur from time to time and such events may prevent players from turning up for their tee time at late notice. It should be understood that the decision to accept such an explanation from the member will rest with, and be at the discretion, of the Match Committee or Golf Management.

The Club Captain, Match Committee or Golf Club Management may declare an extreme weather event and suspend the No-Show Policy for the affected competition.

The Policy will be posted on the notice boards in the club and will be attached to the BGC Website. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the details of the policy.

EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER

A reminder we have recently added the Local Rules page to the MiScore App and at the top of this page we have listed the

EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER.  8419 0600.

This is the number you dial if there is an emergency situation on the course as, when dialled, it calls all BGC phones which will result in a faster response to any emergency that occurs on course. Please save this in your phones just in case you need it.
